Update: 12/4/12

Dominic Barbara was arrested, again, earlier today for attempting to extort money from his ex-wife.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said the 67-year-old former attorney, went on a “cold-hearted campaign of harassments and threats,” that was designed to put money in his pockets and he did care “how many lives he destroyed along the way.”

Rice said from March until September of this year Dominic texted and called his ex-wife, Leslie Barbara, demanding money.  When she refused, he threatened to destroy her reputation and career by exposing details of her sexual relationships.

The former attorney claims to have pictures of his ex and her married boss.

Original story

Before he was “saved by Jesus” Dominic Barbara was a high profile New York attorney, but in recent years Barbara, who said he was addicted to prescription drugs, has been living a pauper’s life in Florida.

Barbara, who recently returned to Long Island, New York, was arrested yesterday at the Garden City Hotel, where he had been staying.

Leslie Barbara had her ex-husband arrested over allegations that he violated an order of protection she had against him.

Details surrounding Barbara’s arrest were not available.

Barbara’s fall from grace came after former clients accused him of not returning money he owed them.  He then lost his mansion on Long Island and his license to practice law.

After his license was suspended, Barbara fled to Florida, where he has been living as a born again Christian with his fiancée, 37-year-old Pamela Gorin.

During an interview with The Post, Barbara admitted to being hooked on prescription pills and said he once tried to commit suicide.

Barbara says he hopes to return to practicing law very soon.
