Former Governor of New York David Paterson and his wife Michelle have separated

After 19 years of marriage, former New York Gov. David Paterson and his wife, Michelle Paige Paterson, have parted ways.

A spokesperson for Paterson released a statement saying the split between the couple was “mutual and amicable.”

Although the separation was announced yesterday, sources close to the couple say they have been living separate lives for several months and the 58-year-old politician had already moved out of the Harlem home he shared with his 52-year-old estranged wife.

The couple, who has an 18-year-old son together, was due to celebrate their 20^th anniversary next month.

Both the former governor, who now hosts a weekly radio show on WOR-AM, and his wife have accused each other in the past of extramarital affairs.

There are reports that Michelle Paterson is shopping a tell-all book, which includes details of her marital struggles.
