Former Yankee slugger Jim Leyritz had a break down in a Florida courtroom today after a judge told him he had to spend at least one more weekend in jail on charges that he beat his ex-wife.

“I am never going to get out,” Leyritz told his lawyers while sobbing. “This is not fair.  This is not justice.”

The meltdown came at the end of a four-hour bail hearing in Broward County Court.

In the courtroom Karrie Leyritz, 41, said, “I don’t recall what really happened.  It all happened in 45 seconds.  I am not sure if he hit me or threw me against the wall, but I had a bump on my head.”

The 45-year-old man is also awaiting a manslaughter trial from a 2007 drunk-driving accident where one person died.

Leyritz was arrested on June 2 after his ex-wife, whom he still shares a house with along with their three kids, called 911 claiming that the former slugger hit her.

The responding officer said Karrie smelled like alcohol and gave three different versions of what happened on June 2.

During the trial, Karrie admitted to drinking a bottle of wine before dialing 911 and sometime blacking out after having too much to drink.

In addition, the couple’s son told authorities that his mother was lying about the assault.

Leyritz insists he never struck his ex-wife.

The couple is living together because he can no longer pay child support.

SOUNDS LIKE THIS MAN SHOULD NOT BE IN JAIL.
