Several members of the Virginia Army National Guard are being investigated for allegedly doing an impersonation of John Larroquette’s Capt. Stillman character from “Stripes” just down the road at Fort Dix.
US Army officials confirmed Friday that they’re investigating allegations that eight members of the 266th Military Police Company, Virginia Army National Guard, took pictures and videos of as many as 21 female soldiers showering at the base.
It was not clear if any of the soldiers wished he was a loofa, but “a concerned father of one of the females caught wind of what was happening and contacted a senior Army leader,” Army spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Garver said.
Commanders in Iraq learned of the allegations on May 21 and initiated the probe the following day. The pictures were allegedly taken during the unit’s pre-deployment mobilization training at Fort Dix in the fall. The entire unit is in Iraq now.
“We’re taking the allegations very seriously,” Garver said.
A soldier familiar with Fort Dix operations said male and female soldiers do sleep in the same buildings, but are segregated by floor.
“Soldiers are soldiers,” the soldier said. “(They’re) 19- 20-year-old kids, with hormones flowing. They do stupid stuff. “
