The owner of a gas station and convenience store in the small town of Mossyrock, Wash. was run over several times and killed by a gas thief Monday, police said.
According to police, Haeng “Soon” Yang, 48, pumped $34 worth of gas into John David Joel Angeline’s vehicle at the Flying K Food Mart at about 4 p.m. Monday. He began to take off without paying and Yang stepped in front of his vehicle, according to Sherri Guenther with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.”She stood in front of the vehicle, waving her arms, telling him not to go. The suspect accelerated rapidly, striking the victim, knocking her to the ground and driving over the top of her legs. He then put the vehicle in reverse, backed up over the top of her causing her to tumble underneath his vehicle,” Guenther said.
Angeline, 41, then sped forward and drove over the victim, dragging her toward the parking lot exit, according to investigators.
Yang died of her injuries. On Tuesday, Yang’s sister broke down in anguish in front of the gas station, even as her brother-in-law worked inside, just one day after his wife was killed.
“My sister is gone — all over $34,” Insun Kim told KGW.
“She was a good woman, very good … she was my wife of 28 years,” said Frank Yang, who only speaks a bit of English.
Angeline, a Lakewood, Wash. resident, was captured a short time later. Witnesses at the scene forced him to stop his car until troopers arrived but they had to use Tasers on him because he resisted arrest.
Commander Steve Aust with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said there was no indication the suspect and the clerk knew one another.
Angeline was booked in the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault and second-degree murder. He was arraigned before a Lewis County judge Tuesday; he told detectives he had no remorse for allegedly murdering Yang.
Bond was set at $500,000.
When detectives went to interview Angeline at the jail, he began speaking of biblical events and informed them that he was “The Lord.” He then commanded police to “bow before him.”
Mossyrock is about 85 miles northeast of Vancouver, near Longview along Highway 12.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackSo now he’s playing the crazy card? This guy is a sociopath. He feels NO remorse for killing an innocent women just because he didn’t want to pay for his gas? And what was the point in hitting her several times. He would have gotten away just from the one contact. I hope they put him away for a VERY long time.
No remorse? Electrocute this drag on society. We don’t need ‘it’
