Gospel singer Marie Knight dead

Gospel singer, Marie Knight has died in a New York City nursing home at the age of 84, her manager, Mark Carpentieri confirmed.

Knight, who died on Sunday of complications from pneumonia, toured with Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the 1940’s, and had hits such as “Beams of Heaven,” “Didn’t it Rain” and “Up Above My Head.”

She made a comeback in 2002 and in 2007her label released “Let Us Get Together,” which was her first album in more than 25 years.
