I can’t say I blame her. Convicted criminal Senator Ted Stevens asked the people of Alaska to stand by him as he pursues his rights. However, there is one Alaskan who will not be standing next to the Senator, and that is Gov. Sarah Palin.
Yesterday, Gov. Palin told reporters, “This is a sad day for Alaska and a sad day for Senator Stevens and his family. The verdict shines a light on the corrupting influence of the big oil service up there in Alaska that was allowed to control too much of our state. And the control was part of the culture of corruption that I was elected to fight and that fight much always move forward regardless of party affiliation or seniority or even past service. As Governor of the state of Alaska, I will carefully now monitor the situation and I will take any appropriate action as needed. In the meantime, I ask the people of Alaska to join me in respecting the workings of our judicial system and I’m confident that Senator Ted Stevens from this point on will do the right thing for the people of Alaska.”
I think somewhere in this quote Gov. Palin acknowledged that she is not going to be the next VP. Let’s see, yeah, this is it, “As Governor of the state of Alaska, I will carefully now monitor the situation and I will take any appropriate action as needed.” If you really believe you were going to win the election next week, the rest of November and December should be transitioning duties, then in January you are sworn in as VP, so when are you really going to monitor this corruption?
Also, Gov. Palin , I am a little surprise how quickly you threw your partner in crime under the bus. You were the Senator’s biggest supporter with the bridge to nowhere, in the beginning, when you realized it was not going to happen, you decided to go against it. However, there is still $73 million earmarked for the bridge to nowhere.
Senator Stevens, you are the longest serving Republican in the Senate, and you threw your career away over greed, how stupid are you? You had a good thing going, you have been in the Senate since 1968, the people of Alaska loved you, you had the respect of your colleagues, you were very close to being re-elected next Tuesday, and look at you now, and you are a convicted felon.
I really believe something in wrong with the water you people are drinking in Alaska.
