Dr. Laurence Kirwan, who has offices in New York, Connecticut and England, was arrested by Greenwich police last Friday and charged with third degree assault and disorderly conduct.
He was also ordered to stay away from his wife.
Officers responding to a domestic dispute called at the doctor’s Backcountry mansion found his forty-year-old wife, Chelsea Chapman Kirwan, and her 18-year-old daughter, Tailor Dortona, suffering from minor injuries.
Chapman-Kirwan told officers her 60-year-old estranged husband had attacked her and her daughter from a previous relationship, inside their Sterling Road home. She said he fled while she was on the phone with the 911 operator.
After learning that a warrant was issued for his arrest, Kirwan surrendered to police.
Sources say it is likely that additional charges will be filed against the doctor since his three young children with Chapman-Kirwan were inside the home at the time of the alleged assault.
Before marrying Dr. Kirwan, Chapman Kirwan was one of his patients.
