Greenwich High School senior Kelah Johnson and her mother Pam Jennings were with Financial Journalist Stacey Tisdale on NBC “TODAY” show to discuss how teenagers manage their money.

Pam did something that most parents will never do; she gave her daughter Kelah a credit card when she was only 14 years old.  Living in Greenwich this could be a disaster, but as you will see in this video, http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/26852059#26852059  Pam did the right thing.

As Stacey mentioned in the video, we are setting wrong examples for our children.  We need to start having financial education with our kids at a very young age, as young as four.  If most of us had this education when we were four, we would have a better understanding of mortgages and we would not be in financial crisis we are in today.

Stacey will be in Washington DC this week participating in two roles at the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Agenda Conference: As a panelist on Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s highly anticipated Town Hall Meeting on the foreclosure crisis.  Other expected panelists include Sen. Hillary Clinton, Congressman Barney Frank, and Senator Chris Dodd.  Stacey is also leading a panel on the financial issues that professional athletes face for Congressman Ed Towns. Stay tuned for more information on NY area book signings and other national media appearances for Stacey as she works with global financial literacy giant Operation HOPE, http://www.operationhope.org/smdev, to bring attention to this important and timely issue!
