Minutes after saving the life of a softball coach by performing CPR, Eileen Bowden, a school nurse, collapsed and died.
According to reports, Bowden had just given CPR to Santa Clara High School softball coach, John Rahbar, who had collapsed while picking up foul balls after practice.
The 59-year-old school nurse was able to save the coach’s life, however, moments after he was taken away in an ambulance, a school district spokesperson said, “Ms. Bowden kind of got up, in just a brief moment, and she fell down and seemed to need medical assistance.”
Spokesperson Tabitha Kappler-Hurley said, “She was taken to Valley Medical Center and unfortunately died en route.”
Bowden leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter, who she adopted from China.
Hospital officials said Rahbar, who had suffered a heart attack, should be released from the hospital in a few days.
