An elderly man who killed his wife in a murder-suicide pact died of natural causes in a Las Vegas nursing home.

Last September, eighty-six year old Joseph Woods, who survived self inflicted gun-shot wounds, was arrested for killing his 63-year-old wife.

He was taken to a nursing home to recover from his injuries while waiting to be arraigned.

He died on Tuesday, one day before he was scheduled to plead guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter.

Woods had told police he killed his wife because she was in chronic pain and they wanted to die together.
