An Iraqi doctor was convicted in a south London court in the 2007 car bomb attack at a Scottish airport.

Bilal Abdulla was found guilty of conspiracy to murder and conspiring to cause explosions while his partner in crime Jordanian doctor Mohammed Asha was acquitted of the same offenses.

According to authorities, in June 2007, both men planted explosions in two Mercedes Benz in central London. One outside of a nightclub near Piccadilly Circus and the other parked off Trafalgar Square.

One car was towed for a parking offense, but the tow driver  called authorities after he became suspicious of the fuel smell in the car.   Police were called to the second vehicle after an ambulance driver saw smoke coming from the car. Police was able to defuse both explosions.

The following day, a Jeep SUV sped through barriers outside Glasgow International Airport and drove into the terminal.  The driver of the Jeep, Kafeel Ahmed, set himself on fire and the passenger of the Jeep identified himself as Dr. Abdulla.

According to authorities, Dr. Abdulla was willing to be a martyr and wanted revenge for the Iraq war which he believed to be Western oppression of Muslims around the world.
