A 58-year-old renowned long-distanced runner from Colorado, who was reported missing four days ago in New Mexico, was found dead Saturday in the Gila National Forest.
Authorities said it is too soon to say how Micah True died, but there were no signs of trauma on his body to indicate a homicide.
Last Tuesday, True, whose extreme-distance running prowess is detailed in the book “Born to Run,” left The Wilderness Lodge and Hot Springs to go on a typical 12-mile run. After he failed to return the following day, lodge co-owner Dean Bruemmer contacted the police, who searched the area without any luck.
Searchers discovered his body Saturday morning.
Bruemmer said True had been visiting the lodge for the last 10 years and knew the area very well.
Authorities said an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
