A 36-year-old Florida man who disappeared in sinkhole under his home is presumed to be dead.
Police were called to the Brandon home around 11:00 p.m. Thursday after the man, identified as Jeff Bush, disappeared in the 50-foot deep hole.
Authorities said at the time the hole appeared five adults and a 2-year-old child were inside the home. Everyone, with the exception of the victim, who was in his bedroom, and his brother were able to escape.
Reports say when the victim’s brother heard him crying for help he ran to his aid but unfortunately he was unable to save him. The brother then became trapped in the sinking house.
A deputy sheriff, who was the first responder, was able to pull the victim’s brother out before the floor completely collapsed.
Authorities said the hole is about 30-feet wide and 50 feet deep but it believe it could be about 100 feet wide below the surface.
