A New York City high school principal is accused of stealing light bulbs, screws and mold spray from a Brooklyn Home Depot.

Employees at the “Do it Yourself” store accused Manhattan’s High School for Language and Diplomacy Principal Santiago Mayol of stealing the items on October 8.

Mayol, who was charged with one count of petty larceny, will continue to work while the incident is still being investigated.

A lawyer for the high school principal calls the whole thing a “misunderstanding” saying “Home Depot made a tremendous mistake….it was a wrongful arrest and he’ll be found absolutely innocent and exonerated.”

Raymond Colon did not say whether his client intends to file a lawsuit later for wrongful arrest.

Mayol makes more than $140,000 a year.
