A Massachusetts federal judge refused to accept a plea deal from a man who was accused of hiring a former gang member to murder his estranged wife, his mother-in-law and his 9-year-old daughter.
In 2007, 50-year-old John Orlowski offered a former gang member he had met in jail $2,000 to shoot his wife and mother-in-law in the head, and asked him to shoot his daughter in the chest so she could have an open casket at her funeral.
Authorities became aware of the potential crime after the former criminal told his mother about the offer and his mother called the FBI.
Judge Douglas Woodlock said the proposed 12-year sentence was too lenient for the alleged charges, so now, the Beverly, Massachusetts man can withdraw his guilty plea and ask for a trial.

The only thing I can think for a short plea offer like this one is that they either didn’t have enough concrete evidence if it went to trial, OR the man has some kind of mental condition. Either way, it wasn’t enough, so i’m glad the judge denied.
