A 20-year-old woman is under arrested after British Columbia police received a tip that she had killed her newborn baby then discarded his body in a dumpster.

It is alleged that the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, gave birth to the baby boy on January 31, in the bathroom of her boyfriend’s home in Richmond while he was asleep.

After giving birth, it is believed she woke her boyfriend, who claimed he did not know she was pregnant, and convinced him she had had a miscarriage.

The couple then took the baby, wrapped him in a towel and then put him in a garbage bag before discarding the bag in a school dumpster.

35 officers working three days found the baby’s body in the Burns Bog landfill.

The woman was charged with neglect to obtain assistance at childbirth, concealing the body of child, infanticide and indignity to dead body.
