Update

The two children who were stabbed to death by their nanny inside their posh Upper West Side apartment have been identified as Lulu and Leo Krim, the kids of CNBC executive Kevin Krim.

Krim’s wife, Marina, discovered the bodies when she returned home from her 3-year-old daughter’s swimming practice.

Reports say when Dr. Krim returned home the apartment was very dark and quiet, which prompted her to go downstairs and ask the doorman if the nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, went out with the kids.

After the doorman told her no, she went back upstairs, where she found the nanny suffering from a self-inflicted stab wound to the throat.

She found her two children in a bathroom bleeding to death.

Original story

Authorities in New York City said a woman came home today to find her two young children stabbed to death by their nanny.

The gruesome scene was discovered inside an Upper West Side 2nd floor apartment around 5:30 p.m.

Reports say the children’s mother, who is a pediatrician, found the nanny’s body in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor before she found her two children, aged 2 and 6, suffering from stab wounds in a bathroom.

The children were rushed to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities said the children’s 36-year-old mother was running errands with her older child while the awful attack took place in her La Rochelle West 75th Street.

It wasn’t immediate clear why the nanny, who has been identified as 50-year-old Yoselyn Ortega, killed the children.

Ortega is listed in critical condition at Weill Cornell Medical College
