Palm Beach authorities said 49-year-old Neal Jacobson confessed to killing his wife and his two young sons over the weekend.
According to reports, after Jacobson gunned down his wife, Franki and his twin sons Eric and Joshua, both 7, he drove his SUV off U.S. Route 441 in Delray Beach in hopes of committing suicide.
Authorities found a loaded gun on the passenger seat of Jacobson’s vehicle and when questioned by police, he confessed to killing his wife, who is a children’s book author and his sons, who had just celebrated their seventh birthday last week.
Sources close to the family said a combination of losing a close and the real estate crisis had caused Jacobson to be become depressed recently.
It is also believed that Jacobson had recently started a failed human growth hormones company over the internet.
Jacobson was taken to Delray Community Hospital for injuries he suffered in the crash.
He was charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
