A 20-year-old Connecticut woman is accused of beating her 64-year-old grandmother, leaving the elderly woman with a black eye and bruises over her body.
A co-worker of the elderly woman told Norwalk police she had been suspicious of the victim’s granddaughter abusing her, and then last Tuesday after seeing fresh bruises and the black eye she confronted the woman.
Police said the grandmother confessed to her co-worker, and the co-worker convinced her to report the incident.
The victim told police that her 20-year-old granddaughter, Kelsey Heffron, had an explosive temper and suffers from a psychiatric disorder. She said Heffron sometimes spit in her face and often screams at her.
She said last Tuesday, Heffron wanted money from her trust fund and after she refused to give her access to the account, her granddaughter began to beat her.
“Kelsey gets angry with me from time to time, anything can set her off” the victim told police. “She has said she will stab or shoot me.”
Heffron was arrested and charged with assault on a victim over 60 years old.
She was ordered to have no contact with her grandparents and to undergo psychiatric treatment upon release.
She posted a $5,000 bond shortly after her arrest.
Authorities did not say why Heffron lived with her grandparents instead of her parents.
