An off-duty New York City police officer, who is suspected of driving drunk, has been suspended from the NYPD.
Kwando Karikari-Awere was suspended shortly after he was arrested for crashing his vehicle into a parked car in the Bronx on Sunday.
It is suspected that Officer Karikari-Awere, who refused to take a breathalyzer test, was drunk when he crashed into a parked car near the intersection of Morris Avenue and East 150th Street around 8:40 p.m.
No one was injured in the accident.
Thirty eight year old Karikari-Awere joined the force in 1998.
