A 20-year-old “troubled” New York University student committed suicide early this morning by jumping off the 10th floor of the school’s main library.
According to witnesses, around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Andre Williamson-Noble entered the Bobst Library and jumped onto the marble floor in the atrium of the library.
NYU president, John Sexton sent an email to students saying, “The impulse of self-harm…particularly among young men and women with so much talent and so much to live for…is incomprehensible to me.”
Six years ago after two other students committed suicide in the same area, the university installed six-foot Plexiglas walls on the floors facing the atrium.
Andre did not leave a message behind.
