Ohio husband John Wise shoots wife in hospital bed

Authorities in Ohio said a 66-year-old Massillon man walked into an Akron hospital, where his wife was a patient, and shot her as she laid in her hospital bed.

Police said John Wise walked into Akron General Medical Center just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday and went directly to the intensive care unit, where his wife Barbara was a patient.

With a doctor standing next to his wife, Wise pulled out a gun and shot his wife of 45 years.

Hospital security quickly apprehended Wise and held him until police arrived. He was taken to the Summit County Jail where he was charged with attempted aggravated murder.

The doctor was not injured in the shooting.

Reports say Barbara Wise, who was admitted to the hospital a few days ago with a life-threatening condition, is in critical condition.
