Fifty-nine year old Harry Short of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, died yesterday when his parachute failed to open during a skydiving excursion, officials said.

Short was jumping with a group of three from a single engine Cessna airplane flying about 10,000 when he moved away from the other divers.

Authorities said that Short was unable to open his main parachute and by the time he opened his reserve, he was too close to the ground and landed near the Fairfield County airport.

Short had completed more than 450 jumps before his fatal accident yesterday.
