A New York City man who sexually assaulted another man on a JetBlue flight earlier this month was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.

In additional to the mental evaluation, Brooklyn Magistrate Roanne Mann ordered Othniel Polanco confined to his parents’ home and wear an electronic ankle bracelet.

Mann then released Polanco on $100,000 bail.

A passenger on board JetBlue Flight No 706 from the Dominican Republic to JFK on July 9 spotted 29-year-old Polanco molesting an 18-year-old man who had fallen asleep in the seat next to his.

The passenger said he saw Polanco, who was sitting in the window seat in aisle 11, reached over to the sleeping teenager and put his hand inside the victim’s shorts around the knee and began groping his genitals.

The teenager, who was sleep over the tray table, woke up and punched Polanco in the face.

Polanco told police he had “crossed a boundary”.
