A New York City man was killed by police cruiser in the Bronx shortly after noon on Saturday as he and a friend were leaving a store where they had just ordered lunch.

Witnesses said two men were leaving Reyes Produce on Randall Avenue and Faile Street in Hunts Point, when they spotted a police cruiser coming in their direction.

One of the men yelled to the other “Move! Move! Police is coming!” And they both jumped on a dirt bike and began speeding away.

While they were driving away the guy on the back of the bike jumped off and the police cruiser slammed into the bike killing the driver.

Police officials have confirmed that the driver of the bicycle was killed by the police car that was chasing the men; however, they did not say why the men were being chased.

It’s unclear whether charges will be filed against the passenger, who suffered minor injuries.
