Authorities in Arizona are investigating an incident where a police dog mauled a 15-year-old girl while the dog’s handlers were putting on a gun safety presentation at Nogales High School.
Reports say while the two officers were inside the school last Thursday, the dog, which was caged in a 2011 Ford Expedition, escaped and bit the teenager.
Police were alerted to the incident when students ran into the classroom to notify the officers that the dog was on the loose.
The teenager was taken to a hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities are investigation how the locked door, which cannot be opened from the outside, was opened.
