A Chicago man and his live-girlfriend are accused of chaining the man’s 13-year-old son to a dryer and repeatedly stabbing him.
Police arrested Hugo Dominquez and his girlfriend, Mary Rodriguez, after Dominquez’s teenage son told police he was chained to a dryer and beaten with wooden ax handles, yardsticks, bamboo scratchers, belts and rulers that had been taped together.
The Glenwood boy also told investigators he was stabbed several times by his father.
Police were alerted to the abuse after an observant teacher at Brookwood Junior High School noticed the teenager’s arms, back and legs covered with bruises and cuts.
The teacher called authorities and during an investigation, the boy told police that while his father and Rodriguez were asleep they would chain him up in the laundry room, and then in the morning they would force him to stay in the garage until it was time for school.
The boy also told police that his father had stabbed him several times.
Dominguez was charged with aggravated domestic battery and Rodriguez was charged with unlawful restraint.
Reports say Dominguez and Rodriguez, both 38, admitted to abusing the teenager.
The victim is currently in protective custody.
