This is one clear case of an overzealous police officer going too far.
A police officer in Scotland Neck, South Carolina, tasered a 61-year-old deaf man riding his bicycle killing the man.
The officer was responding to a 911 call about a man, who appeared to be drunk and had fallen off a bicycle in a parking lot, when he approached Roger Anthony, who was riding his bike home, and asked him to stop.
Anthony, who is deaf and suffers from seizures, obviously did not hear the officer and so he continued to ride away.
The officer, who has not yet been identified, then pulls out his Taser gun and shot Anthony, who immediately collapsed.
Anthony then dies.
To use a Taser gun on someone, who looks older than 61, riding his bicycle, is just going too far. First of all, how far is this man going to go on a damn bicycle? Secondly, the man was not resisting arrest nor putting up a fight, he was just peddling away, and you wanna tell me that you couldn’t stop him by grabbing his shirt.
I am not a big fan of suing, but this is one of those rare cases where it is needed…
