Authorities said a 63-year-old electrical contractor died on a New York City highway yesterday after a 48-year-old drunken man struck him with his vehicle.
Frank Avino, of Ronkonkoma, Long Island, was setting up cones in the left lane of the westbound Grand Central Parkway to work on a light pole when Munshi Abdullah, who was driving while under the influence, struck him with his 2002 Audi A6.
Avino, who worked for Welsbach Electric, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Abdullah, who is from Qatar, was driving without a license.
