The brother of Quebec’s Roman Catholic Archbishop who was accused of having sex with young boys took out an ad in a local newspaper explaining why he did it.
In the ad that appeared in La Frontiere last Friday, Paul Ouellet said he pleaded guilty to the charges of sexual assault to end the ordeal and he loved his victims and they loved him back.
In September 2008, sixty-three year old Ouellet was arrested after a four-year police investigation into the allegations which dated back to the mid-1980s and early 1990s.
According to reports, after the former teacher pleaded guilty to the allegations, accusations that were reported after the investigation were dropped.
Ouellet, who is currently serving a community sentence of 15 months in Quebec’s Abitibi-Temiscamingue region, says that some of the accusations against him are false but he did succumb to “advances” made by two boys, 13 and 15, but he loved them and they loved him and he has correspondence to prove that love.
His brother, Cardinal Marc Ouellet refused to comment on his younger brother’s cleansing in the newspaper.
