A 63-year-old man walked into a popular bar in Vail, Colorado Saturday night and opened fire killing one and injuring three.
The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the Sandbar Sports Grill.
According to reports, Richard Moreau started acting “irate” and was bothering patrons in the bar when employees escorted him out.
As he was about to exit the bar, he pulled out a gun and fired about 10 bullets, killing a man from Carbondale.
In a 2006 interview with the Vail Daily, Moreau told a reporter he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving two tours of duty in Vietnam in the late 60s.
One of the three injured was treated then released from a local hospital Saturday night, and the other two are still being treated in a hospital.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI was raised in greenwich left to ski CO in ’80 lived here since. “rossi” as he’s known locally was and is suffering from PTSD – wether it comes up in trial remains to be seen however I know for a fact his meds were switched by the veterans administration bozozos days prior to his shooting. He shoot people – no denying it – but he also killed for his country in ‘Nam – hes not going to be on trial for that though – I believe he’s as guilty as our government. He suffers from a severe mental disorder. period
Sorry COzombewolf – he didn’t “kill for his country.” He was not a combat guy. I know because I was in his unit in Vietnam and ran into him a few times. He was known as a “poser” who liked to dress the part of a serious grunt but he was not in a combat role – period. We were electronic intelligence gatherers (“Radio Research”) and had top secret clearances that kept us off the line. Over the years hee has made a lot of claims (e.g. being a Ranger) that have also been proven to be B.S. A nutcase for sure but it was not the result of being in Viet Nam.
Hmmm… this guy sounds like a nut. Plain and simple. I hope that the trial finds him guilty of murder, because he killed people.
