Sam Shepard arrested for DUI

Actor and playwright Sam Shepard has been arrested on preliminary charges of speeding and drunken driving today in Illinois.

According to police reports, 65-year-old Shepard was stopped early this morning in Normal, ILL for driving 46 mph in a 30mph speed limit area.

Shepard was given a breath test, which indicated his blood level to be double over the legal limit.

He told police he was driving from Minnesota to his home in Kentucky and he stopped off at a tavern in Bloomington.
