A Seattle sheriff’s deputy was caught on camera punching a 15-year-old girl, slamming her face to the floor of a jail cell, and pulling her by her hair all because she kicked one of her shoes towards him.
The incident was captured by the jail’s surveillance camera last November after the teenager was arrested for auto theft, and it was released by a Seattle prosecutors on Friday during an assault case against the deputy, Paul Schene.

Schene, 31, who is accused of using excessive force on the teenager, pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree assault in Superior Court last Thursday.
Schene’s attorney had asked the judge not to release the video of his client abusing the girl to the media.
“As we argued to the judge, it will inflame public opinion and will severely impact the deputy’s right to a fair trial,” his attorney said.
According to court documents, the girl complained of breathing problems after the incident and medics were called to check her. A short time later, she was taken to a youth detention center and booked for investigation of auto theft and third-degree assault, the latter accusation dealing with her conduct toward the deputy.
The girl has pleaded not guilty to taking a motor vehicle without permission.
From what I saw on the video it looks liked he abused his power and it was definitely excessive force. That being said, I agree with his attorney that it should not have been released to the media. It is now difficult for this deputy to get a fair trial after it’s been played on TV and youtube.
