Senator Stevens’ wife Catherine takes the stand.

  Like a dutiful wife, Mrs. Stevens took the stand in her husband’s defense this morning.  Now I am truly convinced that something is wrong with the water in Alaska. 

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Mrs. Stevens would like us to believe, her builder, installed a very expensive gas grill, that she did not ask  for, did not like ( she thought it was a fire hazard), and  yet, never realized she did not get a bill for it?  

I can totally understand Catherine saying, you know what, I didn’t ask for this thing, therefore, I’m not going to pay for it.  If he wants to go ahead and install it, then I am going to consider it a gift.  But, Mrs. Stevens there is just one itty-bitty, problem.  If you are a Senator’s wife, and the deed for your house is under both names, you are not allowed to except gifts without disclosing them, it is illegal!!! 

You are in Washington D.C  baby; DC jurors will not go for that lie.
