Shakira expecting first child with boyfriend Gerard Piqué

Colombian singer Shakira, who was named this week as Christina Aguilera’s temporary replacement on season five of The Voice, announced today that she is pregnant with her first child.

Shakira made the announcement on the website earlier today.

“As some of you may know, [my boyfriend] Gerard [Pique] and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!  At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”

“This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival,” the singer said.

Thirty-five year old Shakira and 25-year-old Gerard, who plays central defender for FC Barcelona, started dating in March 2011.
