Authorities in Mineral Wells, Texas, said it is likely that a 38-year-old woman, whose teenage son found her dead inside a freezer in their garage this week, accidentally locked herself inside the deep-freezer.

Police were called to Shannon Herrin Huddleston’s home near the intersection of Southeast 19th Street and Southeast 14th Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Thursday by her distraught 19-year-old son, who went to their freezer in the garage to get something to eat and found his mother locked inside.

Initially, officials had suspected foul play but Mineral Wells Police Chief Dean Sullivan said her death could have been an accident; adding that police have seen a few situations in which people become trapped inside freezers after falling inside.

It’s not immediately known how long Huddleston had been in the freezer, but she was last seen Thursday morning in her home getting ready for work.

Coincidentally, Huddleston’s husband, Cecil, was arrested several hours earlier on an unrelated and unspecified parole violation.
