Singer Aretha Franklin to undergo surgery today

A community prayer vigil, organized by Detroit City Councilwoman JoAnn Watson, was held yesterday for singer Aretha Franklin yesterday, who is said to be undergoing surgery sometime today.

The 68-year-old singer has not disclosed her medical condition to the public, but last month, she canceled all concert dates and personal appearance until May 2011.

The singer did not attend yesterday’s vigil, but she did release a statement saying “all prayers are good.”
