A 6-month-old New Jersey girl was killed in Central Park on Saturday after a tree branch snap and fell 40 feet hitting her.

Around 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, Karla DelGallo was posing with her daughter, Gianna under a tree in the Central Park Zoo while the child’s father, Mike Ricciutti was taking picture of them.  All of a sudden, a witness said, “there was a cracking noise then the branch came falling down.”

Another witness said DelGallo, 33, tried to flee the falling branch but “she tripped and fell and the baby flew out of her arms.”

A Canadian nurse visiting the zoo began giving the toddler CPR; however, she was later pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell.
