Slumdog Millionaire actress Rubina Ali 'offered for sale' by her father 

The father of Rubina Ali, the young actress who appeared in the award-winning movie “Slumdog Millionaire,” has allegedly offered to sell her for $300,000 authorities said.

Rafiq Qureshi, who lives in one of India’s worst slums in the Mumbai, allegedly tried to sell his nine-year-old daughter.

According to reports, Qureshi allegedly said, “We are considering Rubina’s future. We’ve got nothing out of this film.  They haven’t looked after us.  They gave some money at the start but they gave nothing afterwards. They gave us around 150,000 rupees ($2,600).”

“They have been talking about giving us a house, but all they do is talk,” he allegedly said.

It is alleged that Qureshi’s brother-in-law was the broker in the illegal transaction, and when the interested party called to purchase the child, he lower the price from $300,000 to $100,000.

His brother-in-law reportedly told the buyer “The child is special now.  This is not an ordinary child.  This is an Oscar child.”

The mother and stepmother of Slumdog Millionaire actress Rubina Ali got into a fight over the sale of the nine-year-old girl.  The girl’s biological mother became furious over the news that her ex-husband and his new wife were attempting to sell the girl.
