Snoop Dogg changes his name to Snoop Lion and he is now a Rastafarian

His mother named him Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. when he was born 40 years ago but for the last twenty-something years he was known as Snoop Dogg.

During a news conference on Monday, Snoop said he was “born again” while he was in Jamaica earlier this year recording a reggae album called Reincarnated, which is due out in the fall.

The former gangsta rapper says he has embraced the religion of Rastafarianism and he now wants to be known as Snoop Lion.

Snoop now believes he is Bob Marley reincarnated.

While in Jamaica Snoop said he visited a temple, where he was given the name Snoop Lion and he was also given the Ethiopian name Berhane, meaning “light of the world.”
