South Windsor High School student Hannah Patrie dies after collapsing in school’s auditorium

A 15-year-old Connecticut high school student rehearsing for a choral performance in her school’s auditorium last week collapsed and then suddenly died.

Hannah Patrie, a student at South Windsor High School, was exercising with a group of students around 3:00 p.m. on Friday when she began going in and out of consciousness.

Paramedics were called and they performed CPR before rushing her to Manchester Hospital where she later died.

Hours after Patrie’s death School Superintendent Kate Carter sent an email to staff and families saying in part: “It is with great sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Hannah Patrie, a South Windsor High School student, died this evening.  I know the entire South Windsor community joins me in keeping the Patrie family in our thoughts and prayers.”

As of press time the cause of death was still unknown.

The family has not yet released funeral arrangements.
