Len Berman, a legendary sports anchor on local NBC in NYC, was given his walking papers today by the station.
“I’ve had a great run here at WNBC and will miss the talented people I’ve worked with over the years both on and off the air,” the sportscaster said. “I am looking forward to the various media projects I will be involved with.”
Berman, 61, has been with the station since 1985 and was reportedly earning over a $1 million a year.
Berman is the latest casualty in this unbearable depressing recession; several market veterans were also given their walking papers not too long ago.
The station did not say who would replace Berman.
His last day is April 30.
