Update: 12/27/01

It’s been revealed that Tareq and Michaele Salahi are named in at least 16 different civil lawsuits in Virginia, as both plaintiffs and defendants.

Court records show Tareq sued his mother, Corinne over the family’s business, Oasis Winery, which filed chapter 11 in 2007, and his case was dismissed.

Corinne then sued Tareq and the case went to trial.

A lawyer for the couple, who are vying for a spot on “The Real Housewives of D.C,” said they were invited guests at the White House state dinner and will conduct interviews and press junkets next week.

Original story

Two finalists from “The Real Housewives of D.C” crashed President Obama’s first White House state dinner, the U.S. Secret Service confirmed on Wednesday.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi from northern Virginia attended the president’s biggest social event to date at the White House without an invitation and were able to get through all checkpoints without any issues.

Edwin M. Donovan, a Secret Service special agent released a statement saying the SS checkpoint “did not follow proper procedures to determine if the two were on the guest list for dinner,” however it is important “to note that these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of security, as did all guests attending the dinner.”

Once inside the event, the couple posed for pictures with Vice-President Joe Biden and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel which they later posted on their Facebook page.

More than 300 guests, including Cabinet members, diplomats and Hollywood celebrities attended the dinner in honor of India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

If it is proven that the Salahi’s lied to Secret Service to gain entry into the event they could face felony charges.
