Texas appellate court said that death row inmate Andre Thomas pulled out his left eye and ate it, is “SANE” under Texas law

An appellate court judge ruled yesterday that Andre is “crazy,” but according to state law, he is “sane.”

In a 14-page statement Judge Cathy Cochran wrote that Thomas “is clearly crazy, but he is also sane under Texas law.

Andre had petition the appellate court, challenging his conviction and death sentence.

I disagree with the court’s decision, this man is NOT sane.

The AP is reporting that a Texas death row inmate with mental problems pulled out his left eye and told authorities he ate it.

In 2004, death row inmate Andre Thomas, who is serving time for killing his estranged wife, their infant baby and his wife’s thirteen year-old daughter, plucked out his right eye just before trial was about to start.

Last month, correction’s officer saw Thomas lying on his cell floor with blood on his face and took him to the infirmary where they discovered that he had taken out his second eat.

Thomas is now being treated at a prison psychiatric facility in Houston.

What I do not understand is why did the judge in this case sentence this insane man to a regular prison?  In 2004, this man walked into a police station and told an officer that he had just murdered his family, stabbed himself in the chest, discarded the bodies and had the victim’s heart in his pocket.
