The AP is reporting that Caroline Kennedy will be Gov. Paterson’s choice to fill the vacant Senate seat in New York.

Although the AP is reporting this and people close to governor are agreeing with the AP, his spokesperson Errol Cockfield said, “There is no front runner and the governor is not on the verge of any decisions.”

Yesterday, Gov. Paterson told reporters at the Executive Mansion that he intends to select someone with long-term interest in the job, and not someone who would simply hold the seat until a special election next year.
