Officials in Connecticut said a 3-foot alligator was found earlier today in Enfield near a bus stop.

The animal, which was wearing a collar, was found on Oak Avenue.  It is currently being housed at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection headquarters in Marlborough.

No one has yet claimed the animal but since it’s illegal to have alligators as pets it’s unlikely that anyone will claim it.

Permanent housing for the alligator was not immediately known.
