A former police officer tearfully apologized to killing a 92-year-old woman during a botched drug raid, today in an Atlanta, Georgia, courtroom.
During sentencing, Greg Junnier told a court “I used to think I was a good person.”
Junnier along with ex-police officers Arthur Tesler and Jason Smith were on trial for a drug raid that left Kathryn Johnston dead in a hail of gunfire.
Officials said that the three former officers, who pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to violate civil rights resulting in death, falsified paperwork stating that illegal drugs were present in the home.
Smith and Junnier also pleaded guilty to state charges of voluntary manslaughter and making false statement. In addition, authorities said that Smith admitted to planting bags of marijuana in Johnston’s house after her death.
The November 2006 incident prompted a major overhaul in the Atlanta police drug unit.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe only reason this guy is apologizing is because he hope for leaner sentence, the real truth is this story is more common than we think, they just got caught, the other 99% of these cases go unnoticed because most people believe in the police telling the truth, when in fact they lie 99% of the time.
