Residents in an Oshawa, Ontario neighborhood were ordered to leave their homes on Friday after a Canadian Pacific Railway freight train transporting chemicals derailed in the area.
According to reports, around 2:15 p.m. on Friday as many as twenty-seven of the 111-cars came off the tracks, and one of the tankers burst into flames.
Officials also said that at least two cars crashed into resident’s backyards.
Evacuees with no place to go were sent to South Oshawa Community Center
It is believed that one car was carrying hydrogen peroxide.
