Tree falls on car on Merritt Parkway in Stamford

Police said a man driving a silver car with Massachusetts plates died Thursday afternoon when a tree fell on his vehicle while driving on the Merritt Parkway in Stamford.

It is believed the unidentified man had a passenger in his vehicle.

As of press time there was no updates on the passenger’s condition.

Heavy rain in Fairfield County caused a tree to fall on a vehicle travelling in the southbound direction of the Merritt Parkway.

Authorities say both lanes between Exits 34 and 35 will be close indefinitely.

Few details on the accident, including the condition of the driver, are being released.
